I was perusing through some news websites earlier, when I stumbled upon two very interesting quotes from Danny Ainge in the Providence Journal.
The first one deals with the quality of the frontcourt we'll be fielding this season:
“It’s the best frontcourt that we’ve had maybe ever in this franchise – since [Larry] Bird, [Kevin] McHale and [Robert] Parish probably. … Since that era, it’s the best frontcourt we’ve had,” Ainge said. “We think we have good depth and with Scalabrine and Shelden and Glen Davis playing behind the three guys, we have rebounding and we have defense. Big Baby is a very versatile player. Rasheed spreads the floor and we obviously know about Perk and KG. They’ve done a great job for us the last few years.”
And this one addresses the backup point guard position:
“I’m not feeling a great urgency, because I think that both Eddie [House] and Marquis can play there, and even Tony [Allen],” Ainge said. “We won a game [in December 2007] by 20 points against the Lakers with Tony starting at point guard, so it’s not an urgent thing that we are trying to do right now.”Not gonna lie. I was not excited to read about the Tony Allen backup point guard business. I can live with Eddie House and Marquis Daniels assuming the role for the time being, but my main concern is that whenever Allen dribbles the ball, it bounces off the floor and accelerates back up before reaching it's peak AT THE HEIGHT OF THE NUMBER 42 ON HIS JERSEY.
You know what I'm talking about.
Stay Tuned.

Interesting quotes from Danny...
I would agree, we have the best front cournt since the "Bird Era". We possibly have the deepest roster since 1986...
I can't agree with Danny's infatuation with Tony Allen. He has shown me NOTHING over the last three seasons, except that you can count on him to be disruptive, inconsistent and oft injured.
Eddie needs to be freed from taking the ball up court so he can spot up for transition jumpers. His game flourished when Star-bury joined the team last year.
We need a TRUE back-up PG so the second unit can play their natural positions.
Despite his online drama, I still would'nt mind seeing Marbury return... So what? He's nuts! So was Rodman!
Haha I just don't understand why they haven't mentioned Tyronn Lue's name...We keep talking about him, but there have been no reports about him possibly joining the team.
Maybe he is hoping that a contract year will "wake up" TA. I think that would happen with most guys but have my doubts it will make any difference with him lol
Not sure about who to get though. Most of the available PG's out there are soft. Pruitt is starting to look better to me :/
Haha for some reason I feel like contract years only work in baseball. When we had the opportunity to pick up Allen's option (last summer, I believe? Two summers ago? Fairly recently), he wasn't coming off of any monster season. I actually think he was coming off injury (shocker).
I'd like to hope, like you, Celtics2000, that a contract year would wake him up, but I just don't see it. Especially with Daniels in the mix. Will he even see the court?
Makes you cringe when DA mentioned TA also as a part time PG. I know they tried it before, but that is a turnover waiting to happen!
Hard to guess. I would prefer to see if Giddens or Walker made any progress in year two than TA.
Maybe he will be one the frequent "inactives". We hope!
take care
