Put Your Personal Price Tag on Glen Davis

Seeing as Glen Davis is garnering more press lately than anyone else, and seeing as the majority of that press deals specifically with his contract situation and how much he should make, let's have a little bit of fun with it.

I'm sure we all possess specific opinions about Big Baby and what he means to the Celtics, so in the comments section, I want you to list your personal Big Baby price tag, with a short explanation as to why you selected that specific price.

For example, here's what I would write:

If I were shopping for a Glen Davis, I would walk into Free Agents R Us with no more than four million dollars in my pocket.

If Davis were to be starting this season, we would easily expect the level of performance he displayed throughout the postseason and that would garner mid-level exception kind of money. I will give him that. However, I need to factor in the bench role he will assume, his minutes per game and his yet unproven ability to perform off the bench the same way he performed as a starter.

So, I would offer Davis 3.5 - 4 million dollars per year for two to three years and if his production comes close to matching what happened in last season's playoffs and it could be definitively concluded he would be a 15-6 type of guy with starter's minutes, I would drop a fairly hefty extension in his court after this next current contract is up. I would even be open to re-negotiating his deal midway through the contract, if his production warranted such a discussion.

Your turn. Enjoy.

Stay Tuned.

I would be conservative. No more then 3.5 mill. Don't forget, we gotta re-sign Rondo next season and Wallace has eaten up some of that cap space...

Yeah, good call Nick. That's why I wouldn't go any higher than 4 million. I think 3.5 is a very reasonable and concrete number for Davis.
