Detroit might now have to be deemed the favorite in the Glen Davis sweepstakes.
The Pistons traded guard Arron Afflalo, forward Walter Sharpe and cash to the Denver Nuggets today for a future second-round pick in a move that clears an estimated $1.8 million in salary cap space.
The team is reportedly interested in Celtics restricted free agent Glen Davis, a second-year power forward who is coming off a breakout postseason run when he replaced an injured Kevin Garnett.
Well since Davis is a restricted free agent, we have a security blanket of sorts, as we have the option to match any offer he receives from another team.
Whether or not the Celtics elect to match any offer if Davis signs an offer sheet with another team, will be their choice. Such a situation actually just arose between the Dallas Mavericks and Orlando Magic, concerning backup center Marcin Gortat. Orlando elected to match Dallas' $34 million offer, so Gortat will be backing up Howard for another season.
So, these things can happen. We'll have to wait and see.
Stay Tuned.

I feel we need to match offers made to Big Baby, within reason. Though I have questioned Baby's intellegence on the court, I do believe he is great for the future of the ball club. PLUS - Wallace can back-up Perkins (hopefully Doc does not elect to start Sheed) and Baby has already proven to be a great back-up/fill-in for KG.
Moving forward, Rondo, Walker, Davis, and Perkins are begining to form a great/young future for the Celtics when the Big Three begin to fade out...
Re-Sign Baby!
Yeah I definitely want Wallace coming off the bench. Perk's a perfect fit with the first unit and Sheed can have a much greater impact on the second unit than Perk could...
I agree with your thoughts on Baby. I'd be willing to match him within reason, just like you said. He'd be great to have in the second unit, and if we can somehow snatch up Matt Barnes and Tyronn Lue, we'd be looking at a second unit of Lue, House, Barnes, Baby and Sheed. That's filthy. And if our starting five stays healthy, forget about it.
