Stephon Marbury to Wizards? Or Just an Excuse to Bash Him?

Please, read the following from Bleacher Report. In fact, click on the link and read the whole article, it won't take very long:

Stephon Marbury's up and down playoff run with the Boston Celtics probably won't result in a nice fat contract next season but there is one team that could have interest in the former Knicks guard. It's the Washington Wizards, they had a huge make over with an arrival of their new head coach Flip Saunders.

He would strongly considering adding Marbury to the roster if there is a spot empty. The biggest hurdle for Marbury is that Mike James and Javaris Crittenton are both under contract.

The Washington Wizards president is Ernie Grunfeld, he was a big Marbury fan when Ernie ran the Knicks. He tried to get him the year that Marbury was traded to the Nets.

But the thing that I don't get is why on earth does another team have any interest in Marbury? Flip and Ernie do you get that this guy is a cancer for every team that he goes on. Like you can't be serious?

Like, he totally can! I read this piece with some mild curiosity, but instead of a rumor, the author conveniently turned it into a "let's try and bash Stephon Marbury" article, as if this whole angle hasn't already been beaten worse than John Wayne's dead horse, Duke.

This is probably my favorite line:

P.S. Aren't the Celtics out of the playoffs? Oh yeah, it's the Marbury disease.

I'm sure he thought that was just the cutest little line to end his piece with. (I guess he couldn't get the least bit creative with it, either. The Stephon Marbury disease. It's no swine flu, but it's damn close.) I learned something from this article. I learned never to write about another team or player if you have no legitimate rationale or knowledge of the situation prior to writing about it/them. How much of a fool do you have to be to believe the Boston Celtics missed the playoffs because of Stephon Marbury? Yes, it's ALL Marbury's fault. (Because, you know, he didn't save us in Game 5 against Orlando or anything...) Injuries to...FIVE...specific players had nothing to do with it, either...We've already beaten that horse as well, so I'm not getting into it again.

I ALMOST made a "Bleacher Report" account just to leave a comment, but I held it in. This guy's apparently a Knicks fan, so I'll just let him wallow in that fact instead.

Stay Tuned.
