From the Orlando Sentinel:
The player Howard grew up idolizing was Kevin Garnett, who became the first player drafted straight out of high school since 1975 when he was taken in 1995 by Minnesota.
Seeing how well Garnett excelled, Howard took the same choice in 2004 when it was time for him to make his decision coming out of SW Atlanta Christian Academy.
"All the things [Garnett] did, coming out of high school and being a young big man who excelled in the league," Howard once said. "He was a real inspiration to me, and I want to try and be even better than he is."
Well, I don't know about him being better than Kevin Garnett. If he wiped away the only part of his body that rivals the size of his biceps (his smile) and replaced it with a Christian Bale Batman-like scowl, then he might be better one day. Dwight Howard needs to get mean. Especially for the next 4+ games...
And I liked it when I saw this from Hoopsworld, who's previewing the NBA Finals:
In a league where point guards garner so much attention (Chris Paul, Derrick Rose, Deron Williams, Steve Nash, Rajon Rondo, etc), this year's Finals doesn't spotlight a tremendous matchup at the point.
I can almost guarantee you that two months ago, Rondo would not have made that list (Rose probably wouldn't have, either). But, since he's on there now, it shows us that more than just diehard Celtic fans saw how great he was this postseason. Here's to Rajon making all of these little lists from here on out...
Stay Tuned.
